Kindergarten Teacher
Reports to: Preschool Director
Pay: $23-$30 per hour, depending on education and experience
Status: Part Time (28-30 Hours a week)
Description: New Horizon Christian School is a ministry of New Horizon Church. It is a part-day preschool and kindergarten (8:30am-12:30pm) that approaches learning with a biblical worldview. The kindergarten teacher will be on site Monday from 8:00am-3:00pm most days (exceptions: field trips and graduations.) The kindergarten teacher is someone who loves Jesus, is creative and passionate about teaching. The teacher will facilitate/create Biblically centered hands-on Kindergarten curriculum.

Responsibilities:
- Attending and actively involved in a Bible-believing church and a lifestyle that reflects Christ.
- Reflect Christian values, and a biblical worldview in all aspects of the kindergarten program.
- Manage the day-to-day activities, curriculum, and classroom schedule.
- Plan curriculum and activities in advance.
- Understands children’s cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development to ensure a safe and stimulating classroom environment where children are actively engaged.
- Maintain positive, timely communications with parents and other staff.
- Ensure a healthy and safe classroom environment.
- Supervise classroom volunteers and teacher assistants as needed.
- Pursue additional professional development training and classes as required.
- Works with the Director to plan events throughout the year.
- Communicates clear expectations of student behavior through a classroom management plan including positive reinforcement and restorative discipline.
- Establishes clear goals and directives for student learning based on rigorous educational standards.
- Work closely with the preschool teacher to ensure alignment with the classroom curriculum.
- Maintain student records as well as bi-yearly student evaluations & parent conferences
Preferred Certifications and Skills:
- Washington State teaching certificate preferred but not required
- Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education or equivalent preferred but not required
- Thirty hours completed STARS certification
- Classroom management experience required
- In-person First Aid/CPR certification required
- Strong pre-reading, core academic skills, and student-centered approach to learning
- Maintain a desire to work in a faith-based organization and attend church regularly
