Preschool Teacher

 Reports to: Preschool Director 

Pay: $25-$30 per hour, depending on experience and education 

Status: Part Time (17 – 20 hours a week) 

Job Description: New Horizon Preschool is a ministry of New Horizon Church. The New Horizon Preschool Teacher will be on site Monday from 8:30am-1pm most days (exceptions: field trips and graduations.) The Preschool Teacher is someone who loves Jesus, is creative, and passionate about teaching. The teacher will tell Bible stories, lead crafts/music, and facilitate/create preschool curriculum.

Responsibilities: 

• Attending and actively involved in a bible believing church and a lifestyle that reflects Christ. 
• Reflect Christian values, and a biblical worldview in all aspects of the preschool program. 
• Manage the day-to-day activities of the classroom such as snack, circle time, outdoor play, and other activities. 
• Prep activities and curriculum each afternoon. 
• Plan parties and special programs i.e. Christmas, graduation, possibly Thanksgiving. 
• Understands children’s cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development to ensure a safe and stimulating classroom environment where children are actively engaged. 
• Maintain positive communications with parents and other staff. 
• Ensure a healthy and safe classroom environment. 
• Supervise assistants and classroom volunteers as needed. 
• Works closely with kindergarten teacher to ensure curriculum alignment. 
• Maintain student records as well as bi-yearly student evaluations / learning activities & parent conferences 

Preferred Certifications/skills: 

• Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education preferred 
• Thirty hour completed STARS certification 
• Two years professional childcare experience preferred 
• Classroom management experience required 
• In-person First Aid/CPR certification required 
• Maintain a desire to work in a faith-based organization and attend church regularly
